March will see the return of the infamous jazz ensemble Peter Goudion’s Blues Express. When they were here in 2024 and 2025. This brilliant group contains some of the most sought after musos in Australia, namely Peter Gaudion on trumpet and vocals who has played with The Syncopators since day one. Ash Gaudion on  alto sax and vocals. Ash is a charismatic and talented musician who has been immersed in the world of jazz and blues from a young age. His passion for music shines through in his soulful saxophone playing and captivating  vocals. Bob Sedergreen on keyboards. Bob has been described as the world’s best blues pianist. His musical abilities find him leading and  working with a plethora of diverse ensembles and groups. Also Bob is a prolific writer of jazz tunes. James Clark on bass. James plays bass with The Syncopators and Shuffle Club and he is much sought after for gigs. Rod Gilbert on drums. Rod is a regular drummer with the Syncopators and Shuffle club. His version of “Of Now You Have Jazz” from the film High Society is worth a listen on its own. It will be great to hear Jacki Gaudion sing as she is a quality vocalist who performs with many bands.

Deep South Brass 8

Picture
We are pleased to have the return of Deep South Brass 8 who was a great hit with the ausience when they appeared last September. They are a high energy, New Orleans influenced band and play a mix of jazz/funk/blues originals and popular covers. Inspired by the contemporary brass bands of New Orleans, DSB8 plays an infectious mix of originals and popular charts. With nods to The Big Easy's luminaries of  Trombone Shorty, Jon Cleary, Dr John, and the Rebirth Brass Band, Deep South Brass 8's big bold brass also brings a few surprise interpretations of some old favourites. Last year’s line-up was Neil Gracey: trumpet/trombone/band leader, Matt Dixon: trombone/vocals, Mark Sylvio: trumpet/vocals, Sean Nihill: trumpet/composer, Justin Abicare: alto sax/flute, Jim Glasson: tenor & baritone sax, Andrew Murray: keyboard and Roy John: drums. You will need to think about booking for this great group.
